Bristol is the South West's only real city market and until recently it was mis-counted in our data; the corrected picture is a compact cluster in the BS1 centre and along Gloucester Road, with the rest of a city of nearly half a million barely served. Bath, Exeter and Plymouth each have a small cluster tied to their centres and universities. Dorset, Cornwall and Wiltshire show high search demand relative to supply, but that demand is seasonal and spread across coastal towns, so the viable format is a takeaway with a summer trade or a restaurant in a year-round town such as Salisbury or Trowbridge. Hygiene scores in the region are generally good, and the competitive pressure is low almost everywhere outside Bristol.
